I just haven't found another restaurant that will take the time to do it right. The Jay Cafe makes everything from scratch. Who does that anymore? The owner (Tim) greeted me at the door and visited our table several times during our visit, answering our many questions. He says their motto is, nothing from a bag or a box. So, every dish is fresh made in their kitchen daily. The chicken fried steak is a cut of lean beef. Wow. It is huge and dissolves in your mouth. On my second visit I had fried shrimp. It is going to sound corny, but these were the best shrimp I have every had. I asked them 'how', because a shrimp is a shrimp. You cannot buy a better batch. They say it is the batter they make everyday. Apparently, Tim's wife makes it.

Great food. Friendly and attentive service. Prices are excellent. The daily Blue Plate Special is just that, special. I wish you good luck, Jay Cafe. We need more restaurants like you.

My family and I were very pleased with the quality and price of the food.
