The Jade W is the most recent addition to the Halifax book scene. Some of its collection was taken from Doull's down the street (which oddly enough didn't seem to give Doull's more space); but Jade focuses on children's books, travel writing, the environment, Canadian fiction, and women's issues. The store is bright (thanks to lots of windows on both floors), clean, airy and comfortable - definitely different than other used bookstores. But the best part about this place is the owner herself. Sydney has such as welcoming, friendly way with people, and twice she has gone above-and-beyond to find me a rare book. She knows books and she knows people, and I hope that's enough to keep Jade around for a long time.
