I'm going to go ahead and say that Sushi Nami Royale is my favorite sushi restaurant in the city. Although I've already done a review about how much I love their fusion rolls, I just wanted to mention that I discovered a new favorite fusion roll 'The Fuji Mountain Roll' and that they were kind enough to treat me to ice cream of my choice on my Birthday! I chose the green tea ice cream- they drizzled it with chocolate and sprinkled it with icing sugar- YUM! See why they're my favorite?

Okay, so their Teryaki rice bowls are delicious, but the timeliness and quality of Sushi Nami Royale's service could use some work. I ordered a rice bowl and gyoza to go for lunch and was told that it would be a 25 minute wait before I could pick it up. That in itself is pretty crappy for lunch. Then, when I arrived (after the prescribed 25 minutes), I was told to have a seat to wait for a few minutes; 10 minutes later, my takeout bag was finally brought to me. So we're talking a 35 minute wait for a simple lunch take-out! And the restaurant wasn't even close to half full, so being swamped with other seated customers wasn't even an excuse. While I was there, another woman entered the restaurant and went ungreeted (never mind seated) for at least 2 minutes, even though numerous staff members walked by her in this time.

I am obsessed with their fusion rolls! I've been to every sushi place in the HRM and these guys take the cake! The Mini Kamikaze Roll is the best thing you'll ever put in your mouth, and the runner up is the Tropicana roll. I've taken non-sushi lovers here and now they're hooked. The food is consistent, and although they're not known for their quick service, they are getting better. Come check this place out sometime you're not in a rush, and you'll be happy you did!

When I so out for sushi I alway order it as Sashimi, so finding the freshest raw fish is very important and this place has it. I wish they had Uni :( it must not be popular here on the east coast? I usually get the Assorted Sashimi Dinner (12 pcs), or the Deluxe Sashimi Dinner (21 pcs). The house salad it very good, and miso soup it ok. There is only one big problem with this place and it is the SERVICE. Servers are friendly, but not attentive, and the kitchen/sushi chefs are slow. Perhaps, they need more chefs? It always takes over an hour for us to get our food. Does anyone know where to get fresh sashimi? I'm looking for a place that has FRESH Uni, and Saba a little quicker =) thanks!

Overall, I like this place. It's not my favorite sushi joint in town, but it does have one or two of my favorite dishes. I usually choose Sushi Nami when I'm organizing a group dinner, because there's usually a lot of space and they're pretty accommodating towards large groups of people. The last time we went, there were fifteen of us, and the service was pretty fast considering. I will definitely be organizing another dinner there in the near future. :)
That said, I've also had a few bad experiences there. A vegetarian friend and I ordered a "vegetarian dragon" roll to share once. Somehow this got mixed up with a "green dragon" (which has shrimp, and I'm allergic to shellfish). The waitress argued with us about what we ordered until we had to get the manager involved. I've had this particular waitress several times since I started eating there (about two years ago), and at least half of those times there was some kind of mistake.
The manager has always handled any issues we've had incredibly well, and it's not enough to deter me from eating there again.

Sushi Nami Royale is a decent little spot. Though it's certainly not my favourite. One thing I do luv about this place is the decor and feel. It's a little more on the 'high end' for sushi spot.
Have patience though, the service is a little on the slow side.

I've eaten there several times and the chef's fusion creations with Atlantic fish are amazing. Service was exceptional as well.

Latest review: After a series of good visits, today's visit was horrible. Rotten, almost non-existent service. We waited 40 minutes just for water, even though we kept asking for it. If we hadn't placed our orders, I'm sure we would've left. And even when the orders did come, they came about 15 minutes apart, so we didn't actually get to eat together. Customers that came a long time after we did received their food almost immediately, and our orders were very simple. Just how long do they think working people get for lunch?! It was a big disappointment, and it greatly overshadows my previous experiences.
First review: Part of the attraction with Sushi Nami is its great atmosphere. The place is big and bright, and the service is friendly. I tried the Tropicana roll at a friend’s suggestion, and it was amazing, both in taste and presentation. I usually stick to the same dishes, but whenever I feel like trying something new, the staff are very helpful in making recommendations.

I've been here a few times and really enjoyed my time. The decor is nice and the food tasty. I ordered a tuna pizza on someone's recommendation (never had a sushi pizza before) and it was very good and not what I expected (in a good way!). The spicy miso soup is good too, if you can handle a little hotness and want to deviate from 'regular' miso soup.
The service is a bit slow, but I went during a busy time (lunch). Not recommended if you're in a rush!
EDIT, MAY 8 2009: We waited an hour for our food today, and waited quite long for water as well. They said they were busy, which would have been understandable... but other people came in AFTER US, got their food and ate before we got ours!
Also, last time we came, the waitress messed up two of our orders, and tried to argue that that was what they ordered...

I have tried a few sushi places in Halifax. This one is the worst one on my list. The quality and quantity are all not good. I order the chicken teriyaki, the chicken was so over cooked, not tender at all. The miso soup almost has no content. The salad dressing is not so tasty compare to other places. It is way worse than the Hamachi house on Morris street. Also it is worse than the other ones.
