4 Reviews for Subway
Today was a promotion where free breakfast sandwiches were given out to customers today. It was not the best breakfast sandwich that I've had; but it was free so I can't really complain. They were pretty quick in making them for the amount of people as well.
Maybe I set my expectations to high but when a business uses the slogan eat fresh is it to much for someone to expect that they might actually get fresh food.
When a meal is so bad that I stop eating it midway through for fear that I may be poisoning myself with the food that I am consuming I dont think the restaurant is living up to their mantra of eating fresh
I shrugged it off when I stood in line and noticed that most of the lettuce in the bin was wilted and that the red onions appeared waxy and the red in the outer section of the onions was bleeding into the white below.
Even while my sandwich artist was constructing my sub I silently hoped to myself that she would avoid that slimy looking piece of lettuce or brown bit of onion when putting my sub together. It wasnt until I got back to my desk and bit into my steak sub and the meat on my sub literally disintegrated in my mouth and was accompanied by an almost rancid under taste.
After another bite or two of this medley of rotting food my belly gave into my brains logic and I actually spat the food out and threw out the remainder of my sub. I couldnt bear to eat their freshly spoiled food any longer.
Heres hoping all of this fresh eating doesnt catch up with me later on.
I don't eat out for lunch very often, so when I do, I hope and expect that it will be worth my time and money. Today's Subway adventure was rather disappointing. Although the fella who made my sub was friendly, there wasn't much choice in terms of toppings. Maybe my memory is failing, but I recall having options like shredded carrot to choose from, not just the usual onion/pepper/olive/lettuce/tomato routine. And, the lettuce was already turning brown at mid-day, so how fresh could it be?! I was also surprised that my combo came to just under 10 bucks. I definitely didn't feel like I got my money's worth, but I was over-hungry and needed something quick and convenient. In the future, I'll go back to Pita Pit, where they have many more fresh veggie options and combos to satisfy my appetite and wallet.
Unlike other sub establishments, you actually get a huge sub at Subway, whereas the other establishments seem stingy and serve you tiny subs.
You can get great Subs (like the cold cut combo, my favourite) for about $3.50 for the 6 inch, and $5.50 for the 12 inch.
To make it even better, they have specials every day. For instance, Friday is 15% discount for students!
