This Smitty's has transformed from a cheap diner to a nice family restaurant. The food was very tasty, the service speedy, and the booth seats were comfy. The paintings on the wall added to the cozy atmosphere. Although it's pretty busy, the tables are arranged to maximize privacy.

This is a busy Smitty's because of its downtown location and proximity to the universities. If you hit it at the wrong time, there could be a lineup out the door (because there's hardly any space to stand inside), but the food is dependable, reasonably priced, and usually fast. The customer service is hot and cold though, and sometimes you'll get crammed into tiny spaces when there are perfectly good tables elsewhere.
