An authentic British pub feel with lots of great pub fare (burgers are awesome) and many draught beers to chose from (chose the Oatmeal Stout and was not disappointed). The locally made bitters are reminiscent of real ales served in the southern England (hence my partner's favourite)! Great fireplace for the cold winter days (downstairs).
I love this place, I have been coming here for years and the food is always great.
Henry house is a very old restaurant and bar I've only ever eaten in the bar which is in the basement.
Their ultimate burger is truely ultimate and the best burger in town if you ask me.
Some very good Micro brewery beers are served here as well I'd have to reccomend the Ring Wood for those who like an amber
Where else can you get liver and onions! Can't complain about the beans and fishcakes either. This place is quite popular so it gets pretty busy. I wouldn't be surprised if you go and cannot get a seat.
When you enter the main entrance, you see a very modern, very standard restaurant. This is the kind of place you'd be happy to meet a friend or business associate for lunch. The food here is good but not extraordinary---its not as greasy as some other pubs in town.
Then you walk down the stairs and its like a true English or Irish pub with stone walls, a dark (but not depressing) environment, and some of the best beers in Nova Scotia.
If you're lucky, on a Friday or Saturday night you might catch a local band or another random group of musicians in an impromptu "jam session" in the downstairs pub. Once I saw a group with harps, flutes, and fiddles all wailing to some great Celtic music. You just don't get much better than the Henry House!
The Henry House is another neighbourhood gem. It has a pub atmosphere on the bottom level, and a more modern restaurant on the main floor. The Henry House is perhaps best known for its locally brewed ales, but the British-style pub food is quite good. It's the old building itself though, with its exposed stone and feeling of history, that really gives this place its charm.
