I've ordered sweet potato fries at many restaurants in downtown Halifax, and I have to say, Durty Nelly's has the BEST! The service was friendly and the bar's wooden interior really gives it that authentic Irish feel!

Fantastic burger today at Durty Nelly's. Service was slow but both the burger and the Caesar Salad rocked.

Grabbed a quick lunch here today and I must say I was pleasantly surprised I've eaten at Durty Nelly's several times with mixed success but today the kitchen was on point and served up a great lunch to my group.

The onion rings were home made and cooked to perfection the bun and trimmings were delcious on the "Bigger Better Burger" that I had there and Caesar was one of the best I've had around Halifax in a while. (which is good because I always find that Caesar's can be a hit and miss item that can often leave you feeling cheated as though you've only been given half a meal)

The only reason that I am giving them 3 stars instead of 4 is that the Burger's patty had a slightly out of the box je ne c'est qua to it. although I cant confirm this we almost all know when your having a freshly made patty and this didn't quite meet that mark. but if it was out of a box it was a higher grade than most and still pretty good.

All in all a great lunch and I would definitely go back.

Stopped in here over the weekend for a few beers and some appetizers. A few of us split some nachos and some wings. Who would of thought an Irish pub would have some great food? I was pleasantly surprised and will be going back again for sure. We went on a Friday Night and it was jammed packed. There was a live band playing as well. They were actually really good but they didn't play any Irish music. Not a bad thing I suppose?

I've gone here a couple of times and it's always been a positive experience. I've noticed that there's quite the demographic diversity so don't be shy if you think this place swings to a certain demographic. Expect this place to be packed at night. They have trivia night on Mondays and open mic on Tuesdays which I've heard have always been fun.

The food is your typical pub affair. I've tried two main courses, burger and fish and chips and both were very good. Their nachos and wings are also fairly decent. They have all your standard assortment of beers and ales that you'd expect to see at an Irish Pub. My only one complaint which a few other reviewers have pointed out is that certain items like Stella or Guinness can be a bit pricey. Other than this quibble, Durty Nelly's is an good pub and one you should check out if you find yourself on Argyle.

Durty Nelly's is a spin-off of the original in Bunratty Ireland (est. 1680) and is a true, authentic Irish pub. The only place that even comes close in Halifax is the Old Triangle.

The food is really good here. Specifically, the fish is some of the best friend fish I've had in Halifax. The beer is good, but they don't pour their Guinness correctly, which kind of irked me.

The only problem: it's gotten too popular too quickly and the wait time to get a table on many evenings of the week is long. Not a major deal if you're pretty easy-going.

Oh, and the Guinness is $6.75 each. This is about 25 to 75 cents more than most other places in town.

Tried this new spot on Argyle for an early dinner recently and enjoyed the plank salmon and a pint or two of Guinness. Actually very good for pub food.

I was surprised the place was so full early in the evening...as we were leaving I had the feeling it was the sort of place that would be lively later on. I'll go back.

Nelly’s is becoming a new favourite of mine, and the place seems to get better and better with every visit. I absolutely love the décor, and the staff are super friendly. The food is really good too – I especially like the fish and “fat chips” – yummy! I look forward to checking out some of the local music in the future.

No word of a lie it's turned into a cougar bar. The first week it opened the average age was between 20-30 but it has since degraded. The first few times I went, the bar service was terribly slow, but that may have been due to the fact that it was fairly new.
