This review is for the "Urban Grill" at Cut Steakhouse which is located on the ground floor below the Steakhouse
This is a very stylish place with a sharing style Menu which I really enjoy because with a few people you can have a ton of different tastes and flavors.
Everything from short ribs to crab cakes or Kobe Sliders.
I've only been for lunch but looks like a great spot to try for dinner as well.
The Steakhouse is phenomenal! It's not just a meal, it's a real dining experience. Everything from the decor to the waitstaff to the meal were first class. Our group chose porterhouse and filet mignon, Yukon Gold potato strings, peas pullau, daal saag (lentils & spinach), and a variety of sauces to share, and it was all cooked to perfection. Amazingly (and thankfully) we still had room for dessert, which was equally delicious. It's expensive, but you absolutely get what you pay for ... and more - there were lots of added touches and surprises throughout the meal. Everyone deserves to treat themselves here!
PS: I recently went to Cut for the second time, and it was just as fantastic. Instead of steak (which of course is their raison d'etre), I couldn't resist the swordfish special, and it was perfectly done. We also tried some of their new side dishes, including the tempura onion rings and steak tomatoes, which were fab! Check out the photo of the great dessert they made for my parents' anniversary!
Our family treated us to dinner at Cut for our anniversary, and it was a wonderful evening. Cut is a place where the little details are important. Everything was presented with flare, and the staff were very attentive. The steak, and all the side dishes, were absolutely delicious. It was, without a doubt, the best steak I've ever had. Cut is a welcome addition to the fine dining scene in Halifax.
'Cut' Steakhouse and its sister restaurant 'Grill' are relatively new to Halifax.
The owners (who sold Ryan and Duffy's) have moved the steakhouse theme to the next level.
Every detail is looked after here, from a thorough explanation of every steak on offer, to the vegetable sides and sauces.
I went for the filet mignon (on bone), medium-rare and it was delicious. My group also shared the bok-choi, potato, saag (spinach) and tomato's.
The wine selection was also vast. We opted for a couple of different red's.
The setting is very upscale and rivals any of the other fine dining restaurants in the City such as 'Bish' or 'Seven'.
Overall the dining experience was very impressive and staff were excellent. As you'd expect the price is on the high-end, and comparable for other fine dining establishments.
The Steakhouse (upstairs) is one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had in Halifax. Not only was the meal fantastic (perfectly cooked, well-presented, lots of flavours and originality in the side dishes), but the staff were wonderful too. It’s an expensive outing (6 people cost us about $400 with drinks, appetizers, mains and desserts), but it was a special occasion I won’t forget.
I'm with Fiona on this one. I ate here with 5 other people and there wasn't one complaint. We ate upstairs and the food was amazing, the staff was very pleasant and knowledgeable and the entire experience left me wanting more. It is very expensive (I think my steak alone was about $45) but worth every penny and I'd go again in a heartbeat. The after-dinner drinks were entertaining as well. Who knew having a glass of Absinthe was so involved. It came with a history lesson, sugar cube and fire!
