I have been going to Core since it first opened its doors a couple of years ago. It is "simply the best!"
I was very bored with the traditional gym Nubody's/Goodlife style work out - 20 minutes on some boring piece of cardio equipment and then some time using various type of weight machines or free weights. Can you say BORING? So boring in fact I found it impossible to motivate myself to go so I was paying for a membership that I never used. Not a good deal if you are never going. I even tried some personal training there but again - just someone telling me to get in a cardio machine for 20-30 minutes and then again do some ordering of weight machines. Did I say BORING?
Then along came Core and everything has changed! I use Core mainly for its small group classes under the unlimited membership option. And they are absolutely amazing. Do not picture group aerobic classes. Picture having a personal trainer that you share with some other people during your work out. Since joining Core I have never gone a week without a workout and I usually go to at least 4 classes a week, but I could go to multiple classes a day if I wanted to. It is awesome value for your money! I actually look forward to every workout - never boring and never a burden.
I usually attend Real Ryder Fusion (Mon 6:30am), Rowing Circuit (Wed 6:30am), Rowing (Thurs 8:00pm), Saturday Morning Kickstart (Sat 10:00am) and TRX-Kettlebell (Sunday 9:00am). They also have lots of other classes throughout the day and in the evening which allows anyone to fit a class into their schedule. I have taken classes with Laurissa, Heather, Mike, Monique and Cole - all of them put you through your paces in a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.
I have also had personal training sessions with both Laurissa and Mike, and both are amazing. They have slightly different styles depending on what you are looking for - again something for everyone.
As you can tell, I am one satisfied customer! And I love the new location! It is comfy, welcoming and a perfect size for their offerings!
Give it a try. You won't be disappointed!
I love watching TV. I really love watching TV with a vat of ice cream. I really, really love watching the Biggest Loser on TV, judging the contestants, yelling at them to work harder between mouthfuls of ice cream. Sounds like I am a lost cause in achieving a healthy lifestyle.....
I would have agreed with you, until about a year and a half ago, when I was referred to Core Essentials by a friend. It was time to get healthy, once and for all. Nervous as hell, gripping my gleaming new water bottle and sporting 'as yet to be sweat in' workout wear, I prepared to meet my trainer. And was delighted! Within a couple of months of being put through my paces by Core owner, Laurissa Manning, I was embracing a new lifestyle of healthy eating, regular exercise, and I was seeing the results big time!
With the focus on overall core strength, setting and achieving fitness goals, personalized workouts, and nutritional counselling, the training provided at Core is second to none. They offer lots of convenient ways to take classes-from punch cards to unlimited passes. With the support of Laurissa and her team of trainers, I have gone from yelling at the Biggest Losers on TV, to becoming a "Loser" myself. The workouts offered at Core are constantly evolving, tailored to met your individual needs and will give great results. In addition to personal training, Core offers a wide variety of classes. Boot camps, Kettlbell, Real Ryder Spin classes, Rowing, TRX, Abs, and Running caps, just to highlight a few. Always changing, never dull, you do the work and you will reap the rewards.
Fast forward a year and a half later, and I am feeling strong and healthy. The team at Core provide a network of support for me, encouragement, and now I look forward to getting my sweat on every day. (With the occasional weekend of debauchery thrown in for good measure!)
Core is a wonderful place to exercise - I am NOT one of the superfit, just a regular person trying to stay strong. I have never liked the atmosphere of the big gyms. The trainers at Core are friendly and will help motivate you without compromising your safety, push you but only as far as you are able to go. The real ryder spin classes are my favourite and have increased my cardiovascular endurance way past what I had by doing traditional step classes. I've also started the TRX camps and resistent band classes - great! At first it seems a bit pricey but they always have lots of deals to help minimize the costs.
I didn't get to try all the gear but from what I saw, and from the short 30 second bike ride I had, this place is geared to get you in tip-top shape in no time. The loft style studio is very 'hip' and provides a great intimate space for a workout. I have to go back and try the water rowers.
Awesome morning with Tina. Have a great workout, start off Saaturday right and join the Babes with Tina, Oct. 24. Thanks Tina for an awesome start to my day.
Other bootcamps are listed here; http://www.coressentials.ca/fitness-workshops
Laurissa is an amazing trainer, and her facility is amazing. I love the Core Essentials philosophy of treating the whole person.
I've been using Laurissa at Core Essentials for over a year now and she has me back on track after falling back on my fitness regime.
If you are looking for a dedicated fitness professional to get you back on track with a private fitness regime Core Essentials has it all. They specialize in one-on-one private fitness advice in a fully equipped studio close to Halifax in the heart of downtown Dartmouth.
