...is a cabbage and truffle soup. hits the spot on a cold day
Several people in my workplace regularly get their take out lunch from Ciboulette: sandwiches, wraps, soups or salads, usually. So today I decided to venture down to this cute and cozy (tiny) little hole in the wall to try some of their lunch fare du jour.
Not a place with enough seating for more than a handful of people at once, it's set up for speedy take out, and while it's quick, it's definitely not fast food. Prepped sandwiches are ready and waiting to be grilled into lovely paninis, and fresh salads and steaming soups are at-the-ready.
One of today's specials was a Southwestern Chicken Club Sandwich with mozzarella, avocado, bacon, tomato and a smoked mesquite aoli. After paying $8 and waiting a couple minutes waiting to have the sandwich grilled, I was passed my freshly-pressed sandwich and darted back to work.
First impressions of my sandwich: it's a bit small for 8 bucks... totally wee. But then I thought: the flavour must be amazing, that would kind of make it worth the price... but alas, I was disappointed to taste a distinct lack of... taste. Okay, it wasn't totally tasteless, but it was rather bland for being an $8 undersized sandwiched touting a name like "Southwestern Chicken Club."
Hmph.
Maybe it was an off day, but based on this experience, I'm not sure what all the hype is about for Ciboulette.
I just tried the broccoli salad at Ciboulette in Halifax, NS and it was delicious! It had broccoli (of course), raisins, cheddar cheese, almonds and a tasty dressing! I love that it's meat free. Yum!
I'm addicted to their veggie breakfast wrap! They've also got the best coffee in the city- makes my morning! Friendly service, and everything is so fresh! We also use their catering services for our bi-weekly meetings, and everyone looks forward to the food! If you haven't been to Ciboulette yet, get in there!
The breakfast sandwiches are too die for and the lunchtime panini's ain't too bad either.
It's all freshly prepared next door at Chives and since the new owners took over the old 'Mud Room' coffee shop the food is a different standard. A good place for coffee and tea too.
This is a pretty cool spot. it's not big, it's small. The employees are very nice and the atmosphere is great. The grilled paninis are excellent and are fairly priced around $8. PS I once went in the back and i thought there was a sweatshop there! turns out it's a yarn store or something like that ...
The place is nice and cozy. It has a European feel to it, a French one.
Everything is made with great care and the food tastes great. It is a bit expensive though, considering that one of their sandwiches usually isn't filling.
If there is a better take away Sandwich in Halifax I've yet to have it their Panini Grilled Sandwich's are an addictive gourmet treat.
A small quaint place...where you can choose from a selection of sandwhiches made daily. The best are the panini's and the broccoli salad. The service is spectacular and each sandwich is wrapped with the outmost care. If you are looking for a quick lunch that you can feel good about you should give it a try!
I've had the pleasure of eating at Ciboulette, getting a takeout, and sampling the catering. In all three aspects, Ciboulette's taste, quality and service are top-notch. Their breakfast wraps are seriously mouth-watering, and it's hard not to over-indulge on their homemade sweets. There isn't much room to sit inside, but this is still the best new cafe in downtown Halifax.
