I stopped in the Brooklyn Warehouse briefly for a quick beer only to find that you need to order food to get wine or beer....an odd Nova Scotia licensing law!
I went for their 'beef cheeks' starter (on a recommendation from our host) and wasn't disappointed. For $10 it was a tasty dish, washed down with a few bottles of Peroni.
The Brooklyn Warehouse is an excellent neighbourhood spot in the West End of Halifax...give it a whirl!!
Last week I decided to stop in to the warehouse for brunch. I was told that brunch is fantastic at the BW so my expectations were quite high.
I ordered the BLT Sandwich with home fries and a coffee. The sandwich was simply to die for. This is no ordinary BLT in any way shape or form. They put their own spin on this classic sandwich. For those of you with a large appetite take note, it's huge. The home fries are out of this world. Maybe my favourite in the city even. It's safe to say that they certainly don't hold back on the portions at the BW.
My only issue is that their coffee is just 'okay'. Being a bit of a coffee snob I was hoping their brew would of been 'up to snuff'. Don't let that stop you from going though as most people probably wouldn't even notice.
My first visit to Brooklyn Warehouse was just so-so. When we arrived, the host directed us to a table in the far corner that was so dark we could barely see each other (even though it was broad daylight outside), and it was crammed between two other tables. We asked to be moved to a different table, and fortunately got one by a window (why he didn't direct us there in the first place I don't know). My guest had the eggs benny, which were apparently good, but I didn't enjoy my meal as much. I opted for the eggs dante: two eggs poached in tomato sauce, with hash browns, BBQ pork and shaved parmesan on top. It sounded like an odd combination, but for some reason I thought I should try something that was unique to the restaurant. The pork and parmesan were very flavourful, but were provided more as a garnish, and the rest was quite bland. I wasn't impressed with the coffee either. Given all the rave reviews I've heard and read about this place, I was pretty disappointed, but I'm willing to go back and try the Brooklyn Burger sometime, which is supposed to be their specialty.
We went to the Brooklyn Warehouse at the recommendation of friends. We had actually tried to get in on a few occasions without success (too busy, long lineups), but then one of the waitresses kindly told us the best times to arrive, and we've gone there several times since for both brunch and lunch. The food is delicious (try the pig-fish cakes or the Brooklyn Burger, which was rated one of the top 5 best in Canada), and the waitstaff are always friendly and efficient. Also, for those drivers out there, it's easiest to park at the Forum and walk across.
The Brooklyn Warehouse is an amazing restaurant found in the north end of Halifax.
Is unique menu offerings is what takes me back here time and time again. I am particular found of the Sunday brunch menu.
My favorite brunch menu items are: eggs benedict, wild mushroom omelette, and steak and egg sandwich.
For breakfast, lunch or supper you can always find an interesting and delicious menu item at the The Brooklyn Warehouse.
