I believe its healthy to covet....Some of my friends covet shoes. Others, handbags. Me? I covet something much more interesting-beautiful handmade creations. All of which can be found at the Bogside Gallery in the hip Hydrostone market.
This shop contains a veritable treasure trove of items to be perused through at your leisure. Its a feast for the eyes, with pottery, textiles, wooden creations, and jewelry artfully displayed. It would seem that all the items for sale are sourced from in Atlantic Canada, and they come together as a fantastic showcase for what these skilled artisans are capable of producing. Whether you are searching for a unique gift, or a piece to adorn your own home, the Bogside is a cornucopia of delightful things. Staff are friendly, and very knowledgeable about the artists they feature. (They also don't seem to mind me petting/picking up pretty much every item on display-yay!)
Current object of affection for me? Larchwood cutting board made in Cape Breton. I go visit it regularly! Love, love, love this shop!
This is a small gallery that specializes in fine crafts (pottery, textiles, pewter, glass etc.), all made by Atlantic Canadian artisans. I am always impressed by the selection here, and have bought several pieces for my home as well as for gifts. It's a charming place, and a great excuse to spend time in the Hydrostone.
