12 Reviews for Blowers Street Paper Chase Cafe
The atmosphere at the Paper Chase is unique. The easy going staff are knowledgeable on what magazines they carry and expected delivery dates.
Keith is my utmost favorite with his witty personality. He always has my magazine behind the desk every Tuesday in fear that it will be sold out before I get there.
Check it out for yourself you won't be disappointed.
All of the food at the Paperchase Cafe is assumed to be vegetarian, unless specifically stated on the menu. They have great chillies, salads, and sandwiches! A bit expensive, but their unique menu is definitly worth it (try the Avacado Melt or the Granny Smith Melt with a side of couscous! Yumm!)
I go here quite often. The dark roast coffee they have is the fabulous. Many people might not know this but if you work on Argyle Street you get a 10% discount.
Score!
I have found a new addiction. I love that this cafe has vegetarian and gluten free foods. Their daily soup is amazing and their gluten free brownies.. to die for!
The atmosphere in the cafe is great too! I can't believe I worked by it for years and never went in!
Had my first cup of dark roast coffee from PaperChase this morning and it was gooooood!
This spot is fantastic for picking up the latest issues of your favorite magazines or grabbing a last-minute greeting card (downstairs), and is a great spot for a home-made meal and people-watching (looking down on Blowers, below) upstairs.
The service - if a bit slow - is always friendly, and they even remember how you like certain things (i.e. chili with hot sauce, corn bread heated, etc). The cafe has some really tasty, daily-prepared, healthy and reasonably priced items on their menu which are great stand-bys (for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike) but they should mix it up a bit with the addition of more specials for their regulars.
Upstairs, they also have free wireless Internet access and on-site computers available for rental.
Funky Cafe & Newstand overlooking Argyle St. The food is great, all made from quality ingredients and healthy. Try the chilli & cornbread, best veg chilli in town. Cool internet cafe as well.
I just started working downtown and the Paperchase has become my supplier for my coffee addiction.
The coffee is all fair trade, they have great vegetarian dishes, and the art changes once a month.
Since discovering this wonderful spot i have made many connections in the art community. It seems those who are artistically inclined tend to be the biggest frequenters.
The place may need a little renovations but it adds to the character. If your looking for your favorite magazine or a nice homemade style meal then be sure to stop at the Paperchase.
I agree with many of the comments so far. The service in the cafe (upstairs) is very slow, but the food is made-to-order and delicious. They make a good breakfast sandwich, a great veggie lasagna, and amazing soups. They also make the best carrot cake I've ever had. One of the best places to be in the summertime is in the big front window, looking across Argyle Street.
The newsstand is great - lots of magazines to choose from, and they also have some quirky and risque cards. The junk food can be handy too. Great staff downstairs - they always remember me by name and are really friendly.
If I were just rating the cafe, I might give it a 3, but with the newsstand, I'll give it a 4.
offer one of the best bagles in halifax. Expresso is excellent. their gift certificate is the best present for someone who is coffee addicted.
